About Melody & her Dahlia Farm

Melody Roelke-Parker, Windstone Farms

Windstone farm is high in the Catoctin mountains about a half hour north of Frederick Maryland.

Melody Roelke-Parker, the founder of Windstone Farm, combines her lifelong love of gardening, with her expertise as a infectious disease researcher (in veterinary medicine), along with a backgroud in genetics, in this pursuit of growing healthy, abundant Dahlias. Her scientific background has given her the foundation to pursue this goal of establishing a system for growing virus-free Dahlia tubers, ensuring the highest quality plants for your garden.

Since 2019, Melody has been transforming Windstone Farm into a haven for healthy Dahlias. Through rigorous testing and innovative farming methods, she’s built a system that prioritizes plant health and quality. Even after overcoming personal challenges, including a significant leg injury in 2020, Melody’s determination has never wavered.

Why Dahlias? The same reason you want your kids to be healthy and have a good life. I love them. They’re stunning.

Standing up against challenges

ADA gardening

In August of 2020 a tragic event happened, she broke her leg. There were complications during the healing process that left Melody with limited mobility in her right leg. But it never slowed her down…much.  She learned new ways to move around. Nothing stops Melody for long. Stay tuned for instructional videos for mobility handicapped gardening tips for easier digging and planting.
